figures... soon as i start looking for a TA890GXE they are all gone... infact I cant find a TA890 mATX board unless I want to pay high dollar for it..

why is there a shortage on boards????

If you keep an eye out, occasionally a TA890GXE will show up on Ebay.... in fact, I happened to score one from there just a few weeks ago.... [Big Grin]

Yeah, I shouldn't do business on Ebay anymore either.... cause now I managed to get my hands on a TA890FXE along with an X4 980BE.... [Eek!] [HaHa]

rub it in why dont you... when you get ready to unload a mATX 890 hit me up...

I have a 980BE as well and they are pretty sweet...

Still wanting to ditch this msi 890gxm-g65 but I like the CPU. for a 1075t it isnt bad but I also score a 1100t for cheap

Hahaha.... wasn't trying to rub it in, just thinking I need to stay off there to keep from accumulating even more stuff.... [Roll Eyes]

But hey, I just might take you up on your offer.... shoot me a PM.... [Wink]

I've been looking at changing from the TA890GXE to the A880GZ so I can get me an FX CPU cheap at a later date but my current one, the Phenom II X4 960T doesn't appear in the official support list whereas CPUs above and below in the lineup DO. What do you guys reckon about the lack of official support and the possibility of it running with my 960T?

Despite not being on the support list, I'd be pretty confident that your 960T will work just fine on the new board with no issues.... [ThumbsUp]

Cheers Polygon, I'm not sure what is the best overclocker to go for these days that'll include AM3+ support but I think this fella may be ok: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190838792941?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

A better chipset than the following I'm thinking!

If you're figuring on overclocking, I'd suggest upgrading to at least a T-Series board, such as a TA970.... there are more OC options in the BIOS, and better VRM circuitry to power the CPU as well.... [Wink]

Oh.... well, it looks like it would be the A880GZ then. I used one briefly a while back, and it seemed to be a nice little board. It should work for what you want it to do. [Smile]

I probably wouldn't push an overclock too hard on it though....

I'm just thinking that if I can't unlock to a 6 core in this board maybe I can in the A880GZ but failing that an FX6300 could be purchased at a later date. The 960T seems to still command a premium price too!

Very true.... and it probably wouldn't cost you much to upgrade CPU's at that rate.... [Wink]

1 more core unlocked successfully in this TA890GXE but CPU-Z reports that as an X6 CPU the TDP is 161W so I don't think I'll try and run more than 3.6GHz as an X5 for the minute! Refurbished A880GZ ordered, EXCITED!
