quote: figures... soon as i start looking for a TA890GXE they are all gone... infact I cant find a TA890 mATX board unless I want to pay high dollar for it..
why is there a shortage on boards????
If you keep an eye out, occasionally a TA890GXE will show up on Ebay.... in fact, I happened to score one from there just a few weeks ago....

I've been looking at changing from the TA890GXE to the A880GZ so I can get me an FX CPU cheap at a later date but my current one, the Phenom II X4 960T doesn't appear in the official support list whereas CPUs above and below in the lineup DO. What do you guys reckon about the lack of official support and the possibility of it running with my 960T?

If you're figuring on overclocking, I'd suggest upgrading to at least a T-Series board, such as a TA970.... there are more OC options in the BIOS, and better VRM circuitry to power the CPU as well....

Oh.... well, it looks like it would be the A880GZ then. I used one briefly a while back, and it seemed to be a nice little board. It should work for what you want it to do.
I probably wouldn't push an overclock too hard on it though....

I'm just thinking that if I can't unlock to a 6 core in this board maybe I can in the A880GZ but failing that an FX6300 could be purchased at a later date. The 960T seems to still command a premium price too!

1 more core unlocked successfully in this TA890GXE but CPU-Z reports that as an X6 CPU the TDP is 161W so I don't think I'll try and run more than 3.6GHz as an X5 for the minute! Refurbished A880GZ ordered, EXCITED!
