Sequence of events is the USB wifi adapter software was installed on a 5 year old Dell system that had original XP Home with SP2 from day 1 ...
After the required re-boot, the single user system now was asking for the password for that single user.. I installed same adapter on a system at home, and sure enough, it now asks for password..
Lady told me that she couldn't get any password to work, assuming she had forgotten it, contacted me..
When I told her I was having trouble getting keyboard to type characters in the password blank spot, she thought that happened to her also and maybe that is why password did not work.. This is really unknown if true or just a guess on her part..
But for me, no wired USB mouse or keyboard works.. There were 300+ spybots in the system and I'm running virus programs now, but haven't found anything..
I haven't tried wired devices today, may be working now...

No virus found, so I shutdown and installed wired devices and neither mouse nor keyboard work. Without shutting down, pulled them both and installed wireless devices and both work!!!
I think I'm done! Back to owner on Tuesady...
