I saw that you have a BIOD which upgrades the SIL 3114 Controller to version 5.3.14

Is there a way to use a NON-RAID/JBOD/IDE Bios instead?

The latest Bios can be found here:
http://www.siliconimage.com/support/supportsearchresults.aspx?pid=28&cid=15&ctid=2&osid=0&
Direct link (5.4.03):
http://www.siliconimage.com/docs/BIO-003114-x10_5403.zip

I don't know if the small "system bios file" in this package supports JBOD/IDE or if the IDE Bios can be used for the on-board controller.

Hello and Welcome to The Rebels Haven!

Changing the RAID module is very easy, but I don't understand why you want a older rev RAID module. There is a sticky in the BIOS Workshop on how to do it.

BTW, The Neo4 Platinum Ultra BIOS works on your Neo4 Platinum Pro?

Thanks for your answer.
I made a mistake. It's not "Platinum Pro", but "Platinum FSR". The FSr extension has just something to do with some components on the board.

I don't want any RAID at all. I want to connect single Disks and DVD drives to the SGI Controller. That should be posible using the IDE bios.

The 5.3.14 bios only supports RAID, that's why I need to use the one from 5.4.03
Judging from the version number I'd also say that 5.4.03 is newer than 5.3.14

I didn't see the sticky, sorry. Will look for it now.

But the newer RAID module had RAID also! If you don't want RAID, you can disable it in the BIOS, or just don't use it. The Sticky is in the BIOS Workshop Sector on how to exchange the BIOS RAID Modules.....

OK, here it is. I took 7125RH1D.zip BIOS and changed the RAID module to Si3114R5 RAID BIOS to version 5.4.0.3

The BIOS is available here:

7125RH2D.zip

While I have tested this BIOS, you are flashing entirely at your own risk!

Thank you very much for your efforts.

About the RAID / NON RAID discussion.
Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly.

The Board has 2 SATA Controllers.
The integrated nVidia Controller and the SIL3114 Controller.

While I can enable or disable RAID for the nVidia Controller, in the System Bios I can't change any settings for the 3114 controller, I can only enable or disable it. I cannot choose if it shall work as RAID or JBOD controller.
To do so, usually I have to install a NON-RAID Bios on the 3114 Controller. At least it was so with older Bios versions. I hope the new one let's me choose how the controller should work.

When I have done the flash, I will write the results here.

OK my friend! Thanks for the info and I hope it works for you. I am running the mod BIOS as I type so it is safe to flash, but I don't notice any difference. But then I'm just running a single IDE drive. Anything you want me to look at right now?

Edit: I just noticed this(EditEdit: but it goes away if I disable RAID in the BIOS):

Hi, I hadn't had the opportunity to flash my computer yet.

Judging from your screenshot it's just another RAID bios.
For now it looks as it is just another RAID controller, but maybe in the 3114 bios there is now an option to set the controller to JBOD mode.

If so, then after installing the drivers the controller should be listed in the SCSI section.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Well, it IS anothe RAID BIOS. It seems no mother board manufacturer wants to use the 3114 Controller for DVD-drives.

Thanks anyway
At least now I can use the neewest BIOS. The original 1.D version did not work well with my Hauppauge TV card.

In the origininal MSI 1.D BIOS is an hidden option to switch the sil3114 from RAID to SATA.
I updated the 1.D with these modules and made ALL hidden options visible:
  • BIOS of the intgegrated Silicon Image SATA RAID controller updated from0 5.2.1.6 to v5.4.0.3 - officially Vista ready.
  • Onboard nForce4 RAID controller BIOS updated from v4.8x to v5.60 - RAID5 is possible now!
  • All HT multipliers, DRAM dividers, Voltage options and other hidden items are visible.
  • Special BIOS with ATASX ROM v2.11 security BIOS
Here you can get my SOHO-1D BIOS Mod with and without ATASX Module:
MSI [7125] K8N Neo4 Platinum Rev1.0 - based on orig. MSI 1.D BIOS:
SOHOMOD1.D

SOHOMODAX1.D with ATASX Security Module.

Though it's tested and running on my own K8N Neo4 Platinum Rev1.0 you do flashing on your own risk!

Does anyone still have a copy of chris.b's firmware for the ms-7125 (SOHOMODAX1.D)? The rapidshare link is no longer valid. Also, does anyone have one with the SLA 2.0 tables included as well?
Thanks in advance.

also, I've noticed on the MSI boards in germany that there is a newer 1.E1 bios that fixes a few things including resuming S3 with overclock intact. Would be cool to take that and add all the known mods to it.

Welcome to The Rebels Haven!

Thanks for the links and I just happen to be a member of that forum and was able to download the 1E0 and 1E1 revision BIOS [ThumbsUp]

This morning, I dusted off the Neo4 Platinum system and will flash the new BIOS tonight. I'll also be looking at any mods that may be worth doing.... [Smile]

Somebody's playing games with these BIOS!

Both are 1.14B1 versions and exactly the same and dated 11/09/07 with no modifications...
