I received an IBM Netvista with an Intel P3 733, & Intel Whitney i810e mainboard for free off a guy at work, had powering up problems.

I replaced 3 bad caps on the mainboard.

I picked up an old optical mouse and a old compaq keyboard for free.

Bought a used 17" Dell brand monitor.

Total cost of the system $23USD...

Running Win XP Pro SP2...

Not bad [dono]

OK MD, you have "low cost" nailed.

Let us know what you can do for the "high performance" part. [dono]

I've got a spare 7200 RPM 2mb cache drive for it...although it may not be much of a performer, no agp, and it uses PC133 ram, which has become expensive compared to DDR...which is the way it always goes with RAM...LOL.

I think I'll pack it up and send it to my parents, they're still using a k6-2-400...

LOL...

It's pretty quick as is...probably because it's not packed to the nuts with extra software...

Dang, I go to work and when I get back I a P3 cheapo topic. If you want to talk cheap system, my Proview 17in. monitor was free, free P3 mobo, free P3 coopermine, free ATI Rage 128 Pro(rage 128 GL) free, free 64MB of ram for it, free mouse, free keyboard, free thingy that looks like a sound card but isn't(has RCA Phono Plugs that are unlabled), free HP DeskJet 932C printer, and hsf. Actually assembling the PC priceless.

Oh well, out of the stuff listed I am using the monitor on the P3, the Ram is for when I need it, P3 mobo needs a FC-PGA2 adapter so it can run my Celeron-T, the thingy that looks like a sound card is in my pile of stuff for PCs, the ATI card is in the PC Chips M810LR board, the printer needs ink, and the HSF is being used. The free case with PSU houses the PC Chips M810LR.

Sorry if I stole your glory.
