Have had 2 Opto 148 offers today...I`m hoping to take the plunge and get a CABNE soon. My CPU is the oldest part of my rig..will be weird to move on...

10x290 at 1.6v is stable, but at those speeds and voltages, more extreme cooling is required. I registered temps over 117*F, which is too much for me on voltages that high.
Supposedly the order of preference of steppings is: CABNE > CABYE > CABGE
Rough Speeds: 3.0GHz+(stock voltage!) > 2.9 on 1.6 (same as mine) > 2.7-2.8GHz
If you find some CABNE's, let me know While 2.85 isnt anything to scoff at, having 3.0 on stock voltage would be nice I beleive it would be easy to sell this Chip on Ebay, given its current clock speed, If i were to run across a CABNE 146 that clocks well.
Going to tweak memory now...

Check out Tank Guys for CABNE. I'm still waiting for him to get his shipment, and he'll tell me what what stepping he has. I hope to god its a CABNE. Cabye do great for the money too, so I wont complain. The L2 cache is huge! Should work great for gaming.
Monarch has em but I dont know what stepping. I called and they cant say over the phone. ASS.
I think I will go with tank guys for the price, and the price is rising. New Egg! Where are the Opteron 939's? Greedy SOBS. Working like pawns for AMD. lol.

Wowzers! Just ran the F.E.A.R. MP demo at max settings on everything, 1024x768, and got this result:
I can already feel the difference between this CPU and the Venice running at 9x290 (2610). The game used to lag bad in that demo, and require me to turn the effects down. But apparently this new CPU can keep the engine fed!

We need to see more SuperPI 32M runs with Opterons, on all the forums like OCForums/Xtreme. Too many 1M screenies. A CPU can easily pass 1M yet fail 32M only 4-5 loops in.
I think Eva2000 showed a credible 32M overclock on OCForums. His 146 Opteron did 3000 mhz or something, but needed 1.65 VCORE. I see too many 1M shots at 3000-3200 with Opterons around 1.55 VCORE on air. I don't think any will get very far at 32M.
Figure the heat builds up on air and more cause for 32M failing over the 24 min or so required.

I did do some long stability testing last night, and most of today.
2.8GHz is fully stable at 1.55V. Ran Prime95 for a few hours, no probs.
Only 1.425v (reads 1.39v on monitor programs) is all that is needed for a 6hr 18minute run (stopped by me) of Prime95 at 9x300 (2700MHz). I didnt take a screeny, but i might leave the thing going tonight, and take a shot in the mornin.
With the high voltage required for only 100 more MHz, I will be leaving the PC run at the 2.7GHz rating. Still plenty fast for me, and requires much less cooling. At 70*F ambient here, the CPU stayed at 100*F at full load, with only 1200RPM on my fan. Completely silent. I will put this thing into a 32M loop for those who doubt.
2.7G on 1.425v... stinkin awesome! Even crappy cooling could keep this CPU happy!

One quick-and-dirty test as a close sub for 32M is passing both CPU tests in 3DMark2005. According to Hitechi at OCForums, it is 10 mhz harder to do this than pass 32M, but not too sure about that. I know it's close.
Did ya see on Xtreme? That guy claiming a new WR for TCCD at 320, 2.5-3-3-7? Lotta dirty tricks surfacing now, from guys who are skeptical. Seems guys are running Clockgen at lower clock (for 32M), than upping it for the final loop and the CPUZ screenie. Hee hee. No wonder a lot of those 32M times seem rather slow, ya know, of guys running 270x11 or 270x12, 2-2-2-6.
Plus as Andre Yang said (and as I've said before), lotta guys messing with A64 Tweaker after the run, thus all those 1.5-2-0-0-5 or whatever screenies you see with the 32M run .

Another "cool" thing about these opterons... Ability to run at super-low voltages at stock speeds!
10x200 @ 1.1v!
These 144's/146's would make excellent silent PC's. Just run a passive heatsink, and you are set! If my heatsink wasnt so hard to get off, I would try the heatsinkless CPU like a guy on Xtreme did with his Venice.
If you can find these CPU's, get one!

Yes, at 1.1v and 2GHz, the Core never got much above ambient. Was running at 82*F according to Speedfan If i get me another CPU anytime soon, I will try and run it with no heatsink (start at like 1200MHz to make sure I dont toast anything )
