Now that the X2's are released, it's time for a runoff to see how the performance varies among these 5 different cores....
The runoff will be between:
1) Winchester 2) Venice 3) FX-55 4) Manchester 5) Toledo
The runoff will be at the same multipliers, clocks and BIOS settings.... The test platform will be the DFI Ultra-D running 2X256Meg A-Data Viesta DDR600.... HTTFSB will be in 5Mhz increments for these tests.
Tests will be:
1) SuperPi, 1 million calculations 2) Everest memory benchmarks 3) Max CPU Clock that passes Memtest, and then completes SuperPI in Windows2000 4) Memtest86
Results will be posted before 6/25/05... Check back...

Once I changed to the x2 supporting BIOS, 618-3, the system slowed by at least 2:1... Reinstalling the OS to have the Dual CPU recongized, the system was back to normal....

I was gonna get either an FX-57 or 4800+ X2, but am holding off for now.
Polygon, so how high does that 4600+ X2 overclock to? I know you don't run 3D, but mainly where can it consistently run SuperPI 1M and Five-Mark?
I was going to get a 4800+ X2, but came to my senses. I mean spend $1000 to hit maybe 2750-2800 mhz? It's now twice as hard to get a good overclocking CPU.
The FX-57 is a waste of time when you consider I can get a MachII GT for that price and overclock my 3700+ SD to maybe 3300-3400 mhz.
You don't hear negatives about an X2 purchase since guys spend so much money on one they are not gonna knock it. I think those really impressed with dual core have never seen a 800 fsb P4 multitask, or have never owned a Clawhammer/SD with 1 MB L2. I'm not biting for now.
