AM2 CPU-EZ Upgrade Board Vcore Mod

The AM2 CPU-EZ Upgrade Board has a Vcore adjustment range up to only 1.40V-1.45V, depending on the CPU that is installed. This has proven to not be sufficient when clocking the AM2 CPU to 2.8-2.9Gig. This Vcore Mod will add approx 0.15V to the Vcore that is set in the BIOS. The BIOS monitoring of Vcore in the H/W Monitoring window is correct.

Here is the Pulsewidth Modulator chip. It's a L6714, 4 Phase Control chip:

This is the L6714 Chip's pinout. The Feedback pin(22) and the Ground pin(19) are the pins of interest:
 -

This is a Functional Schematic of a typical circuit using the chip.....
The mod resistor will be connected across Pins 22 and 19:
 -

Calculations indicate that a 10K resistor will yield a 10% increase in the Vcore. So if Vcore is set to 1.4V, the Power Supply will put out 1.54V. 1.56V was actually measured on my board. Here is the 10K Mod Resistor soldered in place.

Here's a hand drawn version of the above picture as it may be easier to see where the resistor gets soldered to:

If you do any mod, your doing them at your own risk. The Rebels Haven Computer Forum will not be responsible for damaged systems or components... If your unsure about the mods, I strongly suggest you do not implement them...
